Course Description

Pathology is literally the study of disease, more specifically it is a bridging discipline involving both basic science and clinical practice and is devoted to the study of the structural and functional changes in cells, tissues, and organ in a particular disease.

The four aspects of a disease process that form the core of the Pathology are:

  • Etiology (cause)
  • Pathogenesis (The mechanism of its development)
  • Morphological change (Structural alternations induced in the cells and organ of the body)
  • Significance (The functional cause’s consequences of the morphological changes.)

Under the heading of Pathology & Microbiology, the following subjects are included:

  1. General Pathology
  2. Systemic Pathology
  3. Hematology
  4. Immunology &
  5. Clinical pathology

Microbiology is the science that deals with the study of small living organisms either microscopic or sub-microscopic creatures. Branches of medical microbiology are bacteriology, virology, immunology, parasitology, mycology. Usually pathology classes are start in second year in BDS.

Our department consists of Professors and adequate number of well trained lecturers. We have a well-equipped laboratory with adequate number of microscopes, histological slides, necessary reagents and other equipment to train up the students. Whole teaching staff are devoted to their duties and trying to train up the students up to the highest level through various class tests, card, term & pre-professional examinations.
