Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics department is one of the most essential departments of Rangpur Dental College, Rangpur. This department deals with the preservation of tooth & periradicular tissues, either by conservative or surgical ways. The treatment protocols under conservative dentistry include, Root Canal Treatment, different types of tooth color matching restoration, pulp therapy, treatment of young permanent tooth, management of dental trauma, discolored tooth, design of smile as aesthetic dentistry, MICD, management of resorbtion & hypersensitivity etc. Surgical endodontics includes the management of periapical curettage, root end surgery & restoration, hemisection, transplantation, premolarization & repair of perforation etc.

History
Professor Dr. Sharifa Begum, a renowned dental surgeon, who is the Chief Editor of “Rangpur Dental College Journal“ and the writer of a book “Manual of Endodontics”. She has been serving as Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Rangpur Dental College & Hospital. A thorough professional, Dr. Sharifa with her effective teaching, facilitating and clinical knowledge fully dedicated for her students as well as for the department. In the department, there are senior lecturers and medical officers, who also teach and demonstrate in the practical classes, observe and monitor the students during the whole academic period. In the classes, laboratory works, they guide them individually in all the segments of outdoor and indoor and also support to patient management. Access to a good number of patients covering all types of diseases offer the students to handle a large numbers of clinical cases with modern technologies, equipment and endondontic materials. These also provide them an opportunity to obtain and share in-depth knowledge on the subjects. Regular organizing scientific sessions, seminars and workshops in and around Rangpur Dental College premises also support the department, students to carry forward on the job training on respective areas of dentistry. All those activities help out students to develop their skills & practical knowledge for future career path.
